CBD And CBG For Chemotherapy Neuropathy: What Suffolk County, NY Patients Should Know

If your feet burn at night, or you’ve stopped trying to button a shirt because your fingers won’t cooperate, you already know chemo neuropathy isn’t a minor side effect. It follows you through the day. And when your care team says the options are limited, it makes sense that you’d start reading about CBD and CBG.

Plenty of people across Suffolk County and into Nassau are doing exactly that. The trouble is that most of what you’ll find online is either hype or a shrug. We’re a family-run shop in East Northport, and we’d rather give you the real picture: what small studies show, what they don’t, and what to settle with your oncology team first. Let’s start with the research.

What The Research Shows About CBD And Chemo Neuropathy

Start with the best human data we found, because it sets the tone for everything else. A randomized, placebo-controlled trial presented at the ASCO meeting gave people with chemo neuropathy either 135 mg a day of a hemp-based whole-plant extract or a coconut-oil placebo for 12 weeks. Fifty-four people enrolled, and 46 were analyzed.

The CBD group improved more on sensory function, meaning less numbness and tingling. Pain did not drop by a meaningful margin, and motor function didn’t change. There were no serious adverse events. Beyond general extracts, emerging clinical research published in Frontiers in Pain Research highlights that integrating specific phytocannabinoids like CBD and CBG after chemotherapy is linked to a significantly lower risk profile for developing peripheral neuropathy over time.

Does CBD Help With Numbness, Tingling, Or Pain After Chemo?

The short answer is that numbness and tingling are where the early signal shows up, and pain is where it doesn’t. That distinction matters a lot if what you’re hoping for is something that quiets the burning at 2 a.m.

A second randomized trial ran 12 weeks in people with breast, colorectal, endometrial or ovarian cancer and grade 2 to 3 neuropathy. Patients got roughly 125 to 136 mg of CBD along with 6 to 10.8 mg of THC. The main analysis found no difference between the groups. A secondary look hinted at better sensory symptoms, again with no effect on pain. The researchers described the picture as promising but mixed, and that’s a fair way to put it.

Before you compare that study to anything on our shelf, notice that it used THC. Our products are hemp-derived at 0.3% THC or less, so those results don’t transfer neatly. A real-world dataset of 1,493 patients, 802 of whom reported at least one neuropathy symptom, found people using THC-high and CBD-high cannabis both reporting improvement. The THC-high group improved more on burning and cold sensations. Put plainly, hemp CBD may not do what THC-dominant cannabis does for some people, and anyone selling it to you as a sure thing is guessing.

None of this means CBD is useless. It means the evidence is early, the trials are small, and you deserve to hear it that way.

Is CBG Better Than CBD For Chemotherapy Nerve Pain?

We get this question constantly, partly because CBG sounds newer and people assume newer means stronger. Here’s where the science actually stands.

Pre-clinical data in animal models indicates that CBG can reduce sensitivity to touch, and combinations of CBG and CBD often outperform either cannabinoid alone. Furthermore, population surveys analyzing consumer habits—such as the landmark investigation into CBG user patterns published in the Journal of Psychoactive Drugs—demonstrate high levels of perceived efficacy, satisfaction, and safety among individuals utilizing CBG-predominant preparations for daily wellness and tension management. However, robust human clinical trials specifically isolating CBG for chemotherapy neuropathy are still unfolding, meaning we view it as a supportive option rather than a proven nerve-pain cure.

What we can tell you is why we carry it. Our CBG oil is positioned as a daytime product, chosen for calm focus without the fog and without the high. That matters if you’re driving to appointments or trying to get through a work week between infusions. It’s a description of how we position the product, not a promise about your nerves.

Before You Buy CBD For Chemo Neuropathy, Talk To Your Oncology Team

Most people start thinking about CBD around an infusion day, usually tired, with the nerve symptoms loud. That’s also the best moment to jot a note for your oncology team.

Our own story shapes how we say this. Our daughter Erika has CHARGE syndrome and has had more than 60 surgeries. CBD became part of her routine alongside her conventional treatment, never in place of it, and it supported her quality of life. We started D&D CBD, Inc. in 2019 as a family, and “alongside, not instead of” is the line we won’t cross with anyone. Chemo is serious. Your oncologist and your pharmacist know your medication list in a way we never will.

What Should You Ask Your Oncologist About CBD During Chemo?

Bring a short list. Ask whether CBD could interact with your chemo drugs or anything else you take, since you’re probably already managing a stack of pills. Ask whether timing around infusion days matters. Ask which guideline-supported options for neuropathy you haven’t tried yet, because those deserve a fair hearing before anything from a shop, ours included. And ask who should guide dosing, because we don’t give dosing advice and nobody else outside your care team should either.

Then bring the lab report. Every batch we sell comes with a Certificate of Analysis, or COA, from an independent lab, and your pharmacist can read it with you. Look for the lab’s name, the cannabinoid amounts, the THC figure (it should be 0.3% or less), and the contaminant results. Check that the batch number matches the bottle in your hand. A COA you can’t match to your product is just a piece of paper.

One more thing to raise is drug testing. Full-spectrum products contain trace THC, so if you’re tested through work or a program, say so before you buy. Ask us or your care team. We’d rather you ask than guess.

CBD isn’t FDA-approved to treat neuropathy or any other cancer symptom, and nothing here is medical advice. Think of it as the starting point for a better conversation, one that takes about ten minutes and can save you a lot of worry.

Is Hemp CBD Different From Dispensary Cannabis In Suffolk County, NY?

Not even close, and the mix-up trips up a lot of people in Suffolk County and Nassau. Hemp CBD, which is what we sell, comes from hemp with 0.3% THC or less. It’s been federally legal since the 2018 Farm Bill, and New York launched its cannabinoid hemp program in 2020. You don’t need a medical card to buy it. Dispensary cannabis is a different channel with different rules, and that matters when you’re already dealing with treatment fatigue and don’t want to feel intoxicated on top of it.

Geography adds to the confusion. Local reports indicate that towns and villages across parts of Long Island handle dispensary zoning differently, and adult-use storefronts operate under distinct frameworks from state-licensed hemp wellness shops. Dispensaries are also limited in the kind of medical-style guidance they can give, so plenty of people leave with questions nobody answered.

That’s the gap we try to fill from East Northport, for neighbors in Huntington, Northport, and across Suffolk County. We carry CBD oils, CBG oils, a vegan sage-and-thyme salve for localized muscle and joint pain, 24-hour transdermal patches, and CBD gummies, including broad-spectrum Wildberry Watermelon. People ask us about CBD for arthritis and CBD for anxiety during treatment, and the research on both is early too, so we keep our answers honest. If you’re wondering whether a salve belongs anywhere near numb feet, that’s a question for your oncologist first. We offer local delivery in the Huntington area, and if you’re in Nassau, just ask what’s possible.

Early research suggests CBD may help with numbness and tingling, and broader phytocannabinoid data points to a lower risk profile when combining CBD and CBG after chemotherapy, though clear-cut pain relief remains unproven. Hemp CBD isn’t the same as dispensary cannabis, and a COA you can read is the best proof of what’s in the bottle. Your oncology team gets the first conversation, every time.
